Cincy wine festival to be held March 8-10
CINCINNATI — The 22nd Annual Cincinnati International Wine Festival’s grand tastings will be held March 8-10 in the Duke Energy Convention Center in downtown Cincinnati.
There are three grand tastings, which will feature more than 600 domestic and international selections from over 100 wineries: Friday, March 9, 6:30 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, March 10, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.; and Saturday, March 10, 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tickets for these events range from $60 to $70 in advance, $65-$75 at the door (the shorter Saturday afternoon event is the least expensive). A special reserve tasting starts one hour before the grand-tasting opening times and costs an additional $40.
The festival also includes some special wine dinners on Thursday, March 8 at more than a dozen Cincy-area restaurants. And a Charity Auction & Luncheon will be held Saturday morning, March 10, at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza Hall of Mirrors, with the reception and silent auction starting at 9:30 a.m., and the live auction starting at 11 a.m. The luncheon follows the live auction. Tickets for this event are $125.
The wine festival is a local non-profit organization founded in 1991, and it benefits 30 Cincinnati-area and Northern Kentucky charities. The festival distributed $275,000 to those charities in 2011, and Since its inception, more than $3 million has been raised and donated to charities, organizers said.
