A little extra weight makes you look a little extra younger

There is an age where you actually look younger with a few extra pounds on you.

And that age ain’t 17.

Happily, it’s 40, according to a study by doctors at Case Western Reserve University. The study, which was published in April’s issue of the Plastic and Reconstructive Journal, found that people over 40 look much younger if they have fatter face.

On the flip side, a woman who lost 10 pounds, was said to look older by four years.

Oh, the conundrum!

I am 5’1” and weighed 190. Yes I was fat. I lost 55 pounds and now weigh 135 people tell me that I look younger now not older. Oh by the way I am 50 and look 40. SO it isn’t always true. I workout with weights and that might make difference.

If what they say is true, people must think I’m about 12. P.S. Good job, Kathy. I’m jealous!

I agree with this study. Actresses who are in their 30s (and 40s) and still weigh the same as they did when they were a young 20s model-thin creature, often look a little haggard. 10 pounds would do them a world of good. Brooke Shields comes to mind.

Nice job Kathy but according to the Body Mass Index, for your height and weight, you are still considered overweight which is probably why people still think you look younger than you actually are.

Oh paleeeze, UrbanDweller - get a life. Losing 55 lbs is awesome, who cares if a piece of paper says you might still be a few pounds over the “perfect” weight. And is there even such a thing???
