DAYTON — 10 Wilmington Place recently opened a “memory care” floor for patients who may be dealing with elopement issues or the beginning to middle stages of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

The 20-bed assisted living unit on the fourth floor of the facility’s main building includes both studio-style and one-bedroom apartments. Each living unit includes a bin into which items can be placed that have positive emotional resonance with the resident.

The memory care concept is new for 10 Wilmington Place, said Beth Horvath, marketing director. The floor opened in mid-May.

10 Wilmington Place has 221 living units. Of those, 150 are independent living, and the rest are licensed for assisted living.
