DAYTON — Government and business leaders expect to welcome a delegation from Israel next week and sign a technology exchange agreement that could boost the Dayton region’s defense and aerospace industries.
The visit by Israeli government and business officials is to include a luncheon meeting Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the University of Dayton-led Institute for the Development and Commercialization of Advanced Sensor Technology (IDCAST), followed by a reception that evening at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Gov. Ted Strickland is to address the reception.
On Wednesday, Sept. 9, Israeli officials and representatives of Dayton, Montgomery County and the Dayton Development Coalition are to meet at the Dayton Engineers Club for an 11 a.m. ceremony and signing of the technology exchange memo of understanding.
It is the latest result of the Dayton area’s effort to encourage technology research and development cooperation with Israel. In September 2008, a delegation from Dayton traveled to Israel for meetings.
STAN Solutions, a Dayton-based contractor that provides government clients with sensing and camera technologies, is working with IDCAST to expand the capabilities of a camera developed by an Israeli company, Adaptive Imaging Technologies. STAN Solutions said it has acquired exclusive rights to distribute the camera in North America.
Government and business officials are trying to build the capabilities of the region’s companies to deliver technologies of interest to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and contractors which serve the base, including sensing technologies for unmanned aircraft.
