CLAY TWP., Montgomery County — The Ohio Department of Agriculture on Monday, Nov. 2, issued final permits for an expansion of Dull Homestead, 10404 National Road, the county’s only livestock farm large enough to require state environmental permits.
The expansion will involve construction of a cattle barn measuring 40 feet wide by 200 feet long that will house up to 100 beef cattle.
The final permits increase the farm’s authorized capacity from 4,460 to 4,495 swine weighing more than 55 pounds. They also let the farm house 1,700 hogs that are under 55 pounds, up from the current 1,600 limit.
The permits may be appealed no later than 5 p.m. Dec. 3 to the Environmental Review Appeals Commission, 309 S. Fourth St., Room 222, Columbus, OH 43215. A copy of the appeal must be served on the state Director of Agriculture within three days after filing the ERAC appeal.
