City names new public affairs manager

Toni Bankston is the city of Dayton’s new public affairs manager, filling the role vacated by Tom Biedenharn earlier this year.

Bankston was the vice president of marketing for the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce. She established the chamber’s marketing department and managed its external and internal communications and affinity programs. Before that, Bankston was Vice President of Marketing for FirstDay Financial Credit Union.

Bankston will be responsible for developing and implementing city’s communications programs, including media relations, publications, online and social media and brand identity.

Bankston, a Dayton native, attended the University of Dayton and Sinclair Community College.

“The City of Dayton is very pleased to welcome Toni Bankston to our management team,” said City Manager Tim Riordan, in a prepared statement. “Toni’s demonstrated success in building relationships and developing communications programs will benefit both the City and the community we serve.”
