The Montgomery County Economic Development/Government Equity Advisory Committee on Friday, May 15, recommended funding seven projects with $1.2 million from the county’s 2009 Primary Economic Development Fund of ED/GE.
The funding recommendations will be considered by county commissioners at a meeting on May 19. Projects recommended:
• City of Vandalia — Project Centerline — $350,000 now; $350,000 in 2010. Stonequarry Crossings, a 200-acre mixed use development in Vandalia is being considered for a 1.3 million-square-foot distribution center that would employee 700 people, with a total payroll of $20 million. Officials have not identified the company.
• City of Vandalia — Project Charlie — $250,000. The City of Vandalia is competing for a project with Grand Rapids, Mich., called Project Charlie. The project will be a $10 million investment to relocate 130 new employees to an existing Vandalia company. The jobs will be relocated from New York.
• City of West Carrollton — CAM Manufacturing expansion — $200,000. The project will allow CAM Manufacturing Inc. to build a 10,000-square-foot addition to their existing 29,000-square-foot aerospace manufacturing facility. The project will help the company create 20 jobs during the next five years and retain 55 current jobs.
• City of Kettering — Alternate Solutions Home Care — $125,000. The company will expand its corporate headquarters. The project will retain 57 jobs and create 24 additional jobs.
• City of Miamisburg — Mound Building 3 Renovation — $200,000. Perkin Elmer will expand into Building 3 at the Mound Advanced Technology Center to accommodate its current and future growth. The project will retain 54 jobs and create 30 jobs within three years.
• City of Englewood — Byers Food Building Renovation — $50,000. Byers Food Co. will relocate from Illinois to an existing 58,000-square-foot building that has been vacant for more than five years. Byers will generate 25 new jobs.
• City of Englewood – Creative Microsystems Building Renovation — $85,000. Creative Microsystems will renovate and reuse an existing 18,000-square-foot building, allowing the company to retain 58 jobs with a payroll of more than $3.5 million.
