TROY — Faurecia Exhaust Systems Inc. has permanently laid off nearly 170 local workers, the company has told Ohio government.
Faurecia shut down its 1255 Archer Drive facility May 8, the company said in a letter just posted on the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Web site. The employee layoffs are permanent, John Plenzler, the company’s human resources manager, said in the letter.
“We are giving less than 60 days notices of the mass layoff/shutdown due to the unforeseen and unprecedented announcement that Chrysler is closing its assembly plants,” Plenzler wrote.
In 2008, work from what was then Faurecia North America’s Troy West plant — at 2202 Corporate Drive — was transferred to other Faurecia facilities.
At the time, up to 180 employees were to have the chance to work for other Faurecia facilities in Troy or Franklin, a Faurecia North America spokeswoman said.
Faurecia Exhaust had Troy plants at 1255 Archer and 2202 Corporate. The company has another plant at 2301 Commerce Center Drive, off Interstate 75 in Franklin.
