Cooper Tire to begin local layoffs in August

MORAINE — Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. in August will eliminate the remaining 59 jobs at its large warehouse at 3601 Dryden Road.

Fifteen jobs will be eliminated by Aug. 7, with another 14 to 15 cut each week through Aug. 28, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act document filed with the state on June 8.

Cooper Tire announced it was closing the warehouse in December 2007. At that time, about 70 people worked there.

The company is relocating the warehouse operations to Franklin, Ind.
