Cox Media Group Ohio production plant on the market

The Cox Media Group Ohio production facility in Franklin has been listed for sale by Miller Valentine Group Realty Services.

The sales price is $8.1 million.

Cox Media Group Ohio announced in July that company newspapers will be printed at an Indianapolis production facility under an agreement with Gannett Publishing Services.

Located at 5000 Commerce Center Drive in Franklin on nearly 57 acres, the 252,000-square-foot manufacturing and warehouse building sits directly off Interstate 75.

The building has lots of applications for a variety of different industries with visibility in the growing area between Dayton and Cincinnati.

The building offers just over 27,000 square feet of office space on the first floor and nearly 35,500 square feet of office space on the second floor.

Steve Peters, executive vice president at Miller Valentine, said the building is very marketable.

“We want to show how well maintained it is, all the good things that will make people want to come see it,” he said. “It has flexibility for multiple users — warehousing, manufacturing and more.”

Rob Rohr, Ohio market vice president for Cox Media Group and publisher of the Dayton Daily News, said that while the company’s local newspapers will be printed elsewhere, “The people who write, sell, design and build the paper are all right here in the Miami Valley. We remain close to this community just like we have since 1898.”

The change in printing locations was necessary because the printed format of our newspaper brands has not been growing in comparison to other sides of the business like our Dayton Daily News digital products.

Newspapers that make the change to print at regional print centers are able to use capital freed by outsourcing printing to invest in digital operations and brands, Rohr said.

The daily delivery and appearance of the company’s three daily newspapers – the Dayton Daily News, the Springfield News-Sun and the Journal-News – will not change, he reiterated.
