DAYTON — 'Site Selection' magazine has chosen the Dayton area as the nation's top metropolitan area for economic development in the Tier 2 category in 2009, the Dayton Development Coalition said Wednesday, March 3.
It was the second consecutive year the magazine selected Dayton for that recognition. The category covers metro areas with populations from 200,000 to one million.
The Atlanta-based magazine also awarded Ohio the 2009 Governor’s Cup. The magazine has given the award annually since 1978 to the state with the most new and expanded corporate facilities.
This is Ohio’s fourth consecutive Governor’s Cup, and its fifth in seven years.
Regional collaboration and partnerships made Dayton’s regional award possible, said Jim Leftwich, president and chief executive officer of the Dayton Development Coalition.
