DAYTON — Nine new trustees have been named to the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors, the organization said.

All the trustees will begin their terms in January, the chamber said in a news release.

Those named to two-year terms include:

  • Eric Cluxton, managing director, Wells Fargo Insurance Services;
  • Carol Hinton, president, YWCA Dayton;
  • Judi Law, president, Judo Steel Co. Inc.;
  • Lt. Gen. Thomas Owen, ASC/CC, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base;
  • Gerald Sparkman, general manager, Cincinnati Bell Telephone; and
  • John Winch, president, The Minster Machine Co.

Trustees selected for one-year terms include:

  • Gary Leitzell, mayor-elect, city of Dayton;
  • Dan Foley, Montgomery County Commissioner; and
  • Shannon Potts, chairwoman, Generation Dayton’s Steering Committee.

Additionally, the chamber also said Jim Pancoast, president of Premier Health Partners, will become chairman of the chamber’s board in 2010.

Seems like everyone commenting in the negative about Mr. Parker forgets how he arrived @ the Chamber. He was brought in to clean up the scandal from his predecessor. The fact he's been kept around evidences that he's done some things right. 200K/year is reasonable given his track record. I'll lay money on the fact that those making negative comments don't even belong to the Chamber, or ARE DUES PAYING members. These comment forums draw the worst/negative/jealous/immature...morons.

Not to mention that Parker does absolutely nothing. He makes over $200K a year and is an embarrassment to the city. His goal is to be in the press all the time. He tries to get himself into anything that gets his picture in the paper or on local news.

Parker's ill conceived opposition to the successful casino proposition illustrates how parochial and out of touch the local chamber has become due to Homer's short sighted leadership.

Ditto to the DDN.

This group of new Trustees appear unlikely to introduce much needed reform of the Chamber.

Sounds like a good mix of folks for the Chamber Board....now they need a new leader! Phil Parker has outstayed his welcome. Time for a some fresh idea's and a new President!!!
