Xcel Energy is doubling its reliance on a Teradata Corp. product, the local company said.

Xcel has doubled the size of its Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) product, the latter company said today, May 11.

“The expansion supports the energy company’s focus on better revenue management through integrated data and analysis of customer and energy use,” Teradata said.

Following its initial purchase of a Teradata Active EDW in mid 2008, Xcel Energy integrated data from billing, meter reading, meter inventory and more, Teradata said.

With some 400 Dayton-area employees, Teradata calls itself the world’s largest company focused solely on data warehousing and enterprise analytics.

Xcel Energy is an investor-owned utility, with 3.3 million electricity customers and 1.8 million natural gas customers in eight Midwestern and Western states.
