Firm looks to move to Mound Business Park

A Washington Twp. architectural and engineering firm plans to move to Miamisburg this fall, bringing with it a $1.4 million payroll and 20 jobs with an eye on expansion.

Barge, Waggoner, Sumner & Cannon Inc. is in final negotiations with the Mound Business Park to move from its Yankee Street office to Vanguard Boulevard, officials said Wednesday.

The firm and Miamisburg officials hope to complete a lease agreement by the end of this week, said Eric Cluxton, president of the Mound Development Corp., which oversees the business park.

BWSC, a Tennessee-based business with 11 offices in Ohio, Georgia and Alabama, is looking to move by October to a 6,400-square-foot site that offers the opportunity for expansion, said Vanessa Glotfelter, a vice president and office manager for the firm.

“One of the biggest factors we’re looking at in moving to that office space is the ability to grow,” she said. “…That’s the perfect spot for us in the Austin interchange area, where growth is occurring. And we want to be a part of it.”

Miamisburg officials said the firm, which has been in the Dayton area for 25 years, has plans to add at least 10 more jobs.

The move is expected to cost between $500,000 and $700,000, Glotfelter said. When it is finalized, Miamisburg has agreed to loan BWSC $70,000 for building improvements and relocation expenses to be repaid over seven years.
