Is Hustler taking over Riverside’s former Bob Evans?

Riverside’s former Bob Evans is not the future site of a Hustler store, the city manager said today, despite a fake news photo suggesting the Cincinnati-based adult line would move to the Dayton suburb.

City Manager Mark Carpenter said Riverside has received no permits or liquor license requests on the former Bob Evans site, located at 1929 Harshman Road near Stebbins High School. He said the city has ordinances preventing certain businesses from locating near the school.

Carpenter said the city offices have received several calls today from residents who’ve seen on Facebook a fake news photograph altered to suggest WHIO reported a story headlined “Hustler to buy former Bob Evans In riverside.” The news organization, which is a partner of the Dayton Daily News, never wrote or published such a story.

Previously, the newsroom reported in April the lower-volume restaurant would shut down permanently.
