KETTERING — Fred M. Manchur will succeed Frank Perez as the chief executive of Kettering Health Network, the health system announced Friday, Aug. 6. Manchur starts his new job Dec. 1.
Manchur, 58, of Kettering, has served as the health system’s first president and as chief operating officer since January 2009. He will retain the title of president in his new role.
“Fred has demonstrated to have embraced our mission, to have embraced our community beyond my own expectations,” said Perez, 66, who will become chief executive officer emeritus on Dec. 1 and plans to retire in May 2011 after 17 years with Kettering.
Manchur’s selection follows a nationwide and internal search. The announcement comes just two days after the health system’s chief local competitor, Premier Health Partners, announced its CEO, Thomas Breitenbach, was retiring. Premier said its president, Jim Pancoast, would succeed Breitenbach, effective Jan. 1.
Kettering Health Network now employs 9,500 people thanks to its recent affiliation with Fort Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton. Its other hospitals include Kettering, Sycamore, Grandview and Southview medical centers, and Greene Memorial Hospital.
The health system had 2009 operating revenues of $944 million, and in 2009 held a 42.6 percent market share among adult hospitals in Montgomery County, behind Premier’s 57.4 percent.
