DAYTON — Greater Dayton Industrial Laser LLC, a laser cutting and fabricating services provider in Trotwood, on Wednesday filed a petition seeking Chapter 11 protection in U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

The company, located at 5915 Wolf Creek Pike, listed assets of $500,001 to $1 million, and said it had estimated liabilities of $100,001 to $500,000.

A woman at the facility who answered the phone and identified herself as the manager had no immediate comment Friday morning.

U.S. Bank Equipment Finance in January filed a civil lawsuit in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court over Greater Dayton’s alleged default since early 2009 in making payments for commercial equipment.

Chapter 11 protection helps an operating company stay in business while reorganizing its finances. It frees a company from the threat of creditors’ lawsuits while it reorganizes. The debtor’s reorganization plan must be accepted by a majority of its creditors.
