In the wake of NCR Corp.’s decision to leave its home of 125 years, an executive with an even larger local employer says there are no plans to do likewise.
“I guess the best thing I can tell you is I’m building a house here right now,” said Kurt Sanford, president of LexisNexis Global Operations since January 2008.
Sanford spoke Thursday, June 25, at LexisNexis’ sprawling campus between Springboro Pike and Interstate 75.
While there have been layoffs at the company’s operations in recent years, company spokespeople have held that the campus continues to employ about 3,000 people. A spokesman for LexisNexis Legal Markets used that number again Thursday, as did Sanford.
“It’s a great question, and I’m actually glad you asked it,” Sanford said. “We’ve been here for more than three decades. We have about 3,000 people here. We’ve had 3,000 or so people here for a lot of years.
“That’s our plan right now,” Sanford said. “This is where we have a significant part of our operation. We’ve got about 18,000 people around the world, and this is the headquarters of our global operations.”
LexisNexis specializes in data, legal research and business information products. Functions at the Miami Twp. campus include data centers, product development organizations, editorial, call centers, development, finance, accounting, human resources, marketing and other business units, Sanford said.
Earlier this month, NCR said it was moving its corporate base to Duluth, Ga., taking with it an undisclosed number of the company’s approximately 1,200 Dayton jobs.
