Lowe’s, the home improvement retailer, plans to hire approximately 115 employees at its Dayton-area stores for the spring season, company spokesman Steve Salazar said Friday.
Nationally, Lowe’s plans to hire at least 40,000 seasonal workers for the spring selling season, when homeowners take advantage of warmer weather to improve their dwellings and yards.
The number of seasonal hires varies by store, depending on needs. On average, there are 23 seasonal positions per store, Salazar said.
The hiring plans are similar to last year’s outcome, and can lead to full-time, permanent jobs with the company, Lowe’s officials said.
Applicants may apply online at careers.lowes.com.
The rival retailer Home Depot said it plans to hire about 70,000 seasonal employees nationally, including about 150 in the Dayton area.
The retailers are looking for loaders, cashiers, garden-center workers, stockers and other support personnel.
