Mich. lawmaker: Fuyao plant to have 533 workers

Fuyao’s $70 million investment in its Michigan facility is being celebrated.

First announced last October, Fuyao Automotive North America Inc. plans to invest $70 million to remake the former American Blind & Wallpaper Factory Inc. in Plymouth, Mich., into an auto glass plant.

The Fuyao Automotive North America Inc. project is expected to create 533 jobs with an investment of $66.3 million, according to an announcement from State Rep. Jeff Noble, a Michigan Republican.

Former Fuyao Glass America President John Gauthier told the Dayton Daily News in October that that plant would become part of Fuyao Glass America.

The Michigan Strategic Fund this week approved a $1 million grant for the project. Michigan was chosen over a competing site in Ohio, according to the Michigan Economic Development Corp.

“We’re excited about jobs coming to Plymouth,” Noble said in a statement. “It will improve the quality of life for people in our community.”

Noble represents the Northville and Plymouth, Mich. areas.
