The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will appear on July 17 and 18 at the 2010 Vectren Dayton Air Show, show officials said today, Dec. 7.
The Blue Angels team last appeared in Dayton in 2006.
“This is a fantastic beginning of a blockbuster lineup,” Michael Emoff, chairman of the U.S. Air & Trade Show board of trustees, the show’s governing organization, said in an announcement. “It’s just terrific to have the Blues come back to Dayton after three years, and soon the show expects to add more stars to the program.”
The Blue Angels fly six F/A-18 Hornets. Blue Angel No. 7 Lt. Christian “C.J.” Simonsen and Blue Angel No. 8 Lt. Amy “Spur” Tomlinson were in Dayton last month to review team procedures and confirm the show’s acceptability as a Blue Angel show site, the show said.
Typically 45 members — officers and enlisted personnel — will travel to each show site. Hosting the team in Dayton will be GE Aviation Systems of Vandalia.
All tickets for the 2010 event go on sale today through the show’s Web site, www.daytonairshow.com. Beginning June 7, deep discount advance tickets will also be available exclusively at Kroger stores in the Dayton-Cincinnati region.
