Columbus-based PetPeople, which already operates a store in Centerville, is planning additional stores in Washington Twp. and Springboro.

PetPeople is aiming to open the Springboro store in the Marketplace at Settlers Walk shopping center by the end of November. The other store is on track to open in the Washington Square shopping center around February.

The first store in the area opened near Whole Foods and the next two will open in shopping centers anchored by Dorothy Lane Market. Trish Elkind, co-founder of PetPeople, said the company is intentionally setting up shop near the specialty grocery stores.

“We love Dorothy Lane. We love to be near healthy grocery stores and we know Dorothy Lane has an amazing reputation in Dayton,” she said.

Elkind said the stores will stock natural pet food and high quality supplies for dogs and cats. The stores will also have self-service dog wash rooms that supply the shampoo, towels and dryers.

She said the stores employ workers that are knowledgeable pet enthusiasts.

“We work hard to build relationships with long term customers to help them support the health and well being of their four legged family members,” Elkind said.

About seven to nine employees typically work at PetPeople’s stores.
