OAKWOOD — The owners of Archer’s Tavern in Centerville are gearing up to open a deli-style restaurant in the former Select Start coffee shop space at 2515 Far Hills Ave. in the Shops of Oakwood in early 2012.
The sandwich shop’s name hasn’t been finalized yet, but “Archer’s Deli” — its legal name — is being considered, according to Dan Apolito, co-owner of Archer’s Tavern and of the Oakwood venture. The menu will focus on sandwiches, soups and salads, and Ashley’s Bakery in Oakwood will provide breads for the deli, Apolito said.
“We think the area could support a high-quality sandwich shop,” Apolito said. “It’s a good fit for us.” He said he is “shooting for an early March opening.”
The deli will seat 60 to 80, and if plans are approved for construction of a patio on the building’s roof, another 25 could be seated there, Apolito said.
The deli has applied for a full liquor license. Apolito said the restaurant’s hours will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week, with a possibility that it will stay open until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Oakwood City Manager Norbert Klopsch said he believes the sandwich shop “will be a viable business for that location.” There will be conditions attached to the operation of the open-air patio that will guard against late-night activity and noise, Klopsch said.
“We included a few safeguards so it doesn’t negatively impact the district or the residential neighborhood,” the city manager said.
The venture does not yet have a phone number or website, but both “are coming soon,” Apolito said.
