BEAVERCREEK — The New York & Company store at the Mall at Fairfield Commons has closed — the third specialty clothing store to leave that mall this year, joining The Gap and Express.

New York & Company operates two other Dayton-area stores, at The Greene in Beavercreek and in the Dayton Mall in Miami Twp.

Bruce Goldsberry, general manager of the Mall at Fairfield Commons, said he knew the three departures were coming, and said he has other retailers who are interested in the empty spaces. Goldsberry said he hopes to announce new tenants in the next month or two and start the renovation process for the new tenants shortly afterward.

“They’ll be filled this year,” Goldsberry said of the three recently vacated spaces. The Mall at Fairfield Commons, he said, “has been here 19 years, and we’ve seen these cycles come and go. This is just the nature of retail.”
