Benjamin Moore & Co. has selected Xenia as one of 20 communities in the U.S. and Canada to receive revitalization packages from the paint manufacturer. The packages include exterior painting of downtown businesses along a two- to three-block stretch in each location.
Xenia was selected from among more than 130 communities that competed in Benjamin Moore’s 2013 Main Street Matters program. The combined communities drew nearly 500,000 votes on the company’s paintwhatmatters.com website in hopes of garnering a 2013 selection, according to a media release.
The projects will start this summer and continue through early 2014, company officials said. They will be done with the help of the Make It Right Foundation, Benjamin Moore independent dealers, local municipalities, small businesses and local chambers of commerce.
Benjamin Moore, a Berkshire Hathaway company, will provide all necessary paint, stain and supplies for facades, porches, railings, shutters and other exterior building trims. Officials said the areas to be painted will be determined jointly with town representatives and residents.
