Air Transport Services Group in January acquired Tampa, Fla.-based PEMCO, which performs 737-300 passenger-to-freighter conversions for air carriers in China.

“With the continued success of PEMCO’s B737-300 and -400 conversion programs and the launch of the -700 programs, it’s imperative that we expand capacity to meet customer demand,” PEMCO Director of Conversion Programs Mike Andrews said in a statement. “This new partnership will benefit our conversion customers and is another example of PEMCO’s truly global reach.”

PEMCO has been converting B737 aircraft in Asia since 2006, when it delivered the first B737-300 converted freighter in China.
