Sales of new and existing homes and condos in the Dayton area fell in March, a trend also seen in other major Ohio cities, the Ohio Association of Realtors said Wednesday.
In March, 805 properties were sold, compared with 978 in the year-ago month, a 17.7 percent decline, OAR officials said.
The average sale price for the month was $94,652, versus $120,421 in March of last year, 21.4 percent drop.
Surrounding counties logged declines, too.
The Western Regional Information Systems and Technology service — which includes Clark, Miami, Shelby and four other counties — reported 290 homes and condos changed hands, versus 326 a year ago, an 11 percent decline.
The average sale price for the properties tracked by WRIST was $91,603 in March, compared with $101,421 a year ago, a 9.7 percent drop.
Toledo, Cincinnati and Columbus also reported declines in property sales and prices, the OAR said.
Sales of homes and condos statewide fell to 7,942 units in March, compared with 8,655 sales during the same month last year, an 8.2 percent drop. The average sale price for the month was $113,361, versus $128,041 last year, down 11.5 percent.
