Sam’s Club launches app so customers can bypass checkout lane

Sam’s Club has unveiled its new mobile scanning and payment phone app before the rush of holiday shopping begins.

The membership warehouse club, a division of Walmart Stores Inc., launched the free app so shoppers can completely bypass the checkout lane at any Sam’s Club nationwide. Sam’s Club has three locations in the Miami Valley, and several more in Cincinnati and Columbus.

The app allows customers — who use an Android or iPhone — to download the app and scan UPC codes on items in their cart. When a member is done shopping, they can pay directly on their phone and skip the register.

Members show their digital receipt to an associate on their way out, according to a news release.

“With Scan & Go, members can skip the checkout line and give themselves the gift of more time with their families. Members can also use the app at a number of savings events throughout November and December, saving money and time,”said Rosalind Brewer, president and CEO of Sam’s Club.
