DAYTON — Stratacache said Monday said it has added an embedded Quick Response code technology to its digital-signage products.
QR technology allows a customer armed with a smart phone to download coupons or product information immediately from in-store digital signage. It also allows retailers to track the results of its in-store advertising by providing such data as number of scans, responses and downloads.
The company described the QR Codes as scannable 2-D bar codes encrypted with large amounts of data. A customer using a smart phone can photograph the code and receives coupons or product information linked to the content of the in-store digital displays, the company said.
Chris Riegel, Stratacache’s chief executive, in a statement calls the codes “the future of in-store marketing.”
“This progressive technology integrated into digital signage leads to an even wider range of in-store customer engagement, helping close the promotional loop and provide customers with mobile coupons at the point-of-purchase,” Riegel said.
Stratacache, based in Dayton, late last year had about 50 local employees and more than 100 total.
