Taylor to receive $1M for move to downtown Dayton

Taylor Communications is expected to spend at least $2.4 million to renovate eight floors of offices at 111 W. First St., where it will move at least 500 employees.

To help pay for the upgrades, Taylor is expected to receive $500,000 from the city of Dayton’s economic development fund and $500,000 from a Montgomery County ED/GE (Economic Development/Government Equity) award.

The city was awarded $500,000 in Montgomery County ED/GE in December 2015 to help keep Standard Register in Dayton, according to city documents. Project George, the code name for the project focused on keeping Standard Register, was recommended awards of $250,000 in ED/GE funding from both the 2015 and 2016 rounds. Taylor Communications was formerly Standard Register.

On Wednesday, Dayton commissioners will vote on legislation for the city to accept $500,000 in ED/GE funding to help the “Standard Register Inc. project” make the offices at 111 W. First St. a “competitive setting” and reduce the company’s future energy consumption.
