Tech Town’s first building, called the “Creative Technology Accelerator” — was won LEED gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, the Dayton business park said Thursday, May 6.
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification is the “recognized standard for measuring building sustainability,” Tech Town said in a press release.
Last year, Tech Town opened the building in the 700 block of East Monument Avenue, in an area where Harrison Radiator and General Motors once had plants. The Dayton RFID Convergence Center and the University of Dayton’s Institute for the Development and Commercialization of Advanced Sensor Technologies are the building’s first tenants.
Tech Town is to be developed out to about 40 acres, according to city plans. The Creative Technology Accelerator covers 42,000 square feet. When complete, Tech Town is expected to offer some 400,000 square feet.
