Teradata, a local analytic data services company, has signed a partnership agreement with Hortonworks, producer of Hadoop software.
Teradata and Hortonworks will work together to help businesses use data and learn more about their customers habits.
Teradata, with about 450 local employees, specializes in helping customers store and find data. Web sites generate terabytes of data about customers’ viewing and buying habits, Teradata said. These web logs can be directly loaded into tools like Teradata Aster or Apache Hadoop where they can be analyzed.
“Our partnership allows Teradata to continue to build on its success and commitment to being the No. 1 strategic data solutions provider,” Scott Gnau, president, Teradata Labs, said in a statement from the company. “Working together, Teradata and Hortonworks will offer guidance, with a supported reference architecture, which effectively captures and leverages all aspects of big data analytics. The resulting solutions will help customers solve business problems in new and better ways.”
Teradata has about 8,000 employees worldwide.
