TROY — As Clopay consolidates 300 jobs from the Shelby County village of Russia into its Troy operations in the coming months, workers from Russia will keep their seniority, but will not have bumping rights, a company spokeswoman said.
That means an unknown number of long-time Clopay workers in Russia may be reassigned to different jobs at Clopay’s Troy plant, and cannot “bump” workers in Troy with less seniority, company spokeswoman Mischel Schonberg said.
No workers will take a pay cut, even if they have to accept a different job, Schonberg said.
The company expects to save more than $10 million annually once the consolidation is complete at the former MT Picture Display television tube plant at Interstate 75 and Ohio 55.
The plant in Russia will be dormant, and there are no short-term plans to reuse the facility, Schonberg has said.
Mason-based Clopay had 264 employees in Troy at the end of 2008. It has pledged to employ 555 people in Troy as part of a tax-break deal.
