Office vacancy rates in the Dayton metro area declined slightly during the second quarter, even as national rates reached highs not seen in 17 years, according to a real estate analysis firm.
The vacancy rate for offices in Greene, Miami, Montgomery and Preble counties was 24.7 percent during the quarter, down 0.1 percent compared with the first quarter of this year, according to Reis Inc.
Nationally, 1.8 million square feet of occupied office space went dark during the quarter, bringing vacancy levels to 17.4 percent, Kyle McLaughlin, a senior analyst with Reis, said in an email.
This marks the highest national vacancy levels since 1993, he said.
