Want to brighten someone’s Christmas? Toys-for-tots is today

The Dayton Realtors Toys for Tots reception is happening today.

The program has donated many thousands of toys and more than $53,000 since 1984, the trade association said. And this year again, local Realtors will dedicate their annual holiday reception to the U.S. Marine Corps’ international Toys for Tots program.

The reception will be 4 to 6 p.m. at the Mandalay Banquet Center, 2700 E. River Road, Moraine.

Last year’s party drew about 300 local agents with more than 1,000 new toys and more than $3,000 contributed to Dayton-area children, the association said.

“I’m always amazed at the number of toys we are able to donate to the Marines,” Dayton Realtors President Karen O’Grady said. “It was incredibly heartwarming to see their military trucks filled to the brim with new gifts for needy children.”

Representatives from the local Marines Corps Reserve Unit will be on hand to accept the contributed toys. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be there to express their gratitude to the Marines.

If readers wish to drop off toys today at the Mandalay or at the Realtors offices, 1515 S. Main St., Dayton, they won’t be turned away, a Realors’ spokesman said.
