Wanted: Truck drivers and nurses — and lots of them

Bob Evans Farms Inc. and Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) were the top two employers in Western Ohio with the most online jobs ads in a recent tracking period, the state said.

The most advertised occupations? Truck drivers and nurses, according to a monthly state report.

Bob Evans had 394 ads from June 14 through July 13 in an area that includes Montgomery, Clark, Greene and nine other regional counties, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. AFMC, based on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, had 220 ads in that time period.

Children’s Medical Center and Kettering Medical Center were third and fourth in that time period, with 167 and 162 online jobs ads respectively.

Crown Equipment Corp. rounded out the top five advertising employers with 153 ads,

Heavy- and tractor-trailer truck drivers made up the most advertised occupation in the area, with 855 online ads.

Registered nurses and retail salespeople were next, with 517 and 475 ads, respectively.

In all, there were a total of 15,929 job openings posted online in the region from mid-June to mid-July.

In Southwest Ohio, a multi-county region that includes Butler and Warren counties, a total of 30,622 job openings were posted online in the same time period.

The top advertisers in that region included the University of Cincinnati, Anthem Inc., Accenture, Mercy Health and Miami University. The top occupations were, again, truck drivers and registered nurses.
