WEST ALEXANDRIA — Businesses and individuals have pledged a total of $375,000 in funding to be used by the Women in Aviation International organization for training and academic scholarships in 2012.
That is enough to fund about 50 scholarships, the organization said in a prepared statement Friday from its headquarters in West Alexandria. The available scholarships are to be announced in two months.
In February, Women in Aviation awarded 76 scholarships for 2011 totaling $691,750 to members ranging from college students to mid-career people looking to move into aviation careers.
The organization provides networking, mentoring and scholarships for people seeking careers in aviation and aerospace.
