WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — Base leadership plans to give an update Tuesday, Nov. 24, on the progress of construction and planning for additional military programs that will relocate to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base by Sept. 15, 2011.

Col. Bradley Spacy, commander of the 88th Air Base Wing, and other base officials will meet with reporters at 10 a.m. to discuss what has been accomplished and what remains to be done.

The base has begun a $332 million program to construct offices, classroom and dormitory space for the incoming programs, which include aerospace medicine and sensors research. The base is to realize about 1,100 additional jobs as a result of the influx.

The relocation was ordered as part of the nation’s 2005 base realignment and closure evaluation.

This means jobs are coming to WPAFB but they are science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) based. Parents, do all you can to encourage your children to become educated in these areas and pursue STEM-related degrees.
