Ferrari cruise-in returns to beguile enthusiasts

High-performance sports car and fine watch enthusiasts will have an opportunity to examine rare and valuable collectibles up close during a Ferrari cruise-in, slated for Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at James Free Jewelers, 3100 Far Hills Ave., Kettering.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is being coordinated with the Ferrari Club of America (FCA) Ohio Chapter. Members of the club will display 15 to 20 Ferraris, some of which are worth more than $1 million.

“We did our first Ferrari cruise-in in 2014, and it was so successful, we couldn’t wait to do it again,” said Michael Karaman, president of James Free Jewelers. “Ferrari owners appreciate beauty and precision, and so does James Free Jewelers.”

“James Free Jewelers has welcomed us in and treated us like family; they do the little things that make you feel so at home,” said David Wikette, Ohio FCA president. “I have said it many times – ‘You meet the nicest people in a Ferrari.’”

In keeping with the Italian theme of the event, James Free Jewelers will give away two pieces of jewelry designed by Marco Bicego and Roberto Coin. No purchase is necessary to enter, but participants must be present on the day of the Ferrari cruise-in.

A one-hour ride in a Ferrari will also be raffled off, with all proceeds benefiting a Dayton-area charity that is to be announced. The ride must take place at a date, time and location that is mutually agreeable between the winner and the Ferrari owner.

Hors d’oeuvres will be catered by Elite Catering.

In addition to mingling with sportscar lovers, Ferrari Club members will enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of James Free Jewelers’ design and manufacturing facility and watch repair department, the only authorized Rolex watch repair center in Dayton and Cincinnati. Club members will be able to take advantage of a special 20 percent discount on jewelry purchases. Some designers will be excluded; see store for details.

“When we did our first Ferrari cruise-in in three years ago, the turnout was terrific,” said Dave Tellmann, director of marketing for James Free Jewelers. “If you love beautiful sportscars, this is the place to be on Sept. 23.”
