Lexus has put more sport into its sportiest sedan for 2016.

The little bit of boost to the IS comes from a new turbocharged engine. The IS200t utilizes a 2.0-liter turbo that puts out 241 horsepower and 258 lbs.-ft. of torque. Beyond a bit of lag, the package that is accompanied by an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, fits in well to the vehicle that extends about 15.25 feet in length. Handling is precise with rear-wheel drive, steering is crisp and the overall driving experience matches what you would hope for in a five-person sedan.

This is actually not the quickest of the IS versions, according to Lexus, with a new all-wheel drive IS300 and its 255-hp V6 and the holdover IS350 (available with either AWD or RWD) with a 306-hp V6 leading the way.

Overall, we found the IS200t to be enjoyable. The front bucket seats prove exemplary for long rides and the rear seat deceptively is accommodating for adults in the outboard positions.

Lexus’ controls, gauges and materials are spot on with the possible exception of the optional Remote Touch interface that is operated by a mouse joystick that will take some getting used to. Ideally, once set up you will be able to control your audio functions through the steering wheel as the mouse is going to divert your attention from the road.

Our tester was loaded with options, including a navigation and electronic package, and the F Sport package that comes with a sport-tuned suspension, 18-inch wheels, special front bumper and grille and heated and ventilated seats, among other items.

In its base form, the IS200t is going to provide the fun of having a turbo engine. Loaded with the extras, Lexus dresses this car up for an exhilarating drive or a night on the town.
