[Question was posed to participants at the October's Health care career fair at Sinclair Community College.]

“What we look for is diversity.
The more diverse your
background, the easier it is to place you on a temporary or a permanent job. Certifications help as well.”

Andrea Jones,
business development
manager, Kable
Comprehensive
Healthcare Staffing

“In terms of something
that really sets a candidate apart is longevity in a
position — if they have stayed there for a significant amount of time and they are not
moving jobs every few months.”

Ashley Wright,
staffing specialist,
Hospice of Dayton

“They can have the skill set that fits the unit but, if they don’t have the overall
package in terms of their
soft skills and personality and customer service — that is going to be the key factor.”

Ronda Williams,
nurse recruiter, Mercy Health Partners

“We are looking for
experience and diversity in background — those are the biggest things. They need
experience working in a
hospital setting or in a skilled nursing facility.”

Rich Corona,
Recruiting Manager,
Supplemental Health Care
