More than a half-acre lot with mature trees, a meandering stream and distant golf course views surrounds this two-story, four-bedroom home in Centerville’s Yankee Trace subdivision.

Built in 1995 by M.J. Coates Homes at 1282 Waters Edge Drive, this home offers about 7,100 square feet of living space.

“This lot was our first choice when Yankee Trace opened,” said Toni Coates of Sibcy Cline Inc.

Her husband, Marty Coates, is
the builder of many homes in the area.

Of this particular home, Toni Coates said, “It’s a prime lot. It’s on the golf course, but it’s not intrusive, because it’s wooded.”

In addition to the views, there are many amenities and features to enhance the enjoyment of the interior, including five fireplaces, and enhanced woodwork and trim.

Updates by current owners include the addition of a media room and replacement of the heating and air-conditioning systems.

“We replaced the carpeting in the entire house, and we replaced all the appliances in the kitchen, also,”one owner said.

This home is listed for $769,900.

An archway in pale brick trims the façade and creates a covered entrance. Inside the foyer, the two-story ceiling is centered by a brass chandelier, which can be lowered for bulb changes or cleaning. An oak railing trims the staircase, which circles to the upper level.

French doors open to the library, which is enhanced with a gas fireplace and custom, built-in bookcases
topped by moldings with dentil
detailing.

“The bookcases were designed and built on site,” Coates said.

Square columns surround the entrance to the open dining room, where features include double crown moldings, wide baseboards and a triple window with casements at each end. Another designer brass chandelier attracts attention here.

In the open great room, stacked windows are varied with an arched center window. The nature view combines mature trees with landscaping, a winding creek and a pond. The gas fireplace is trimmed with marble-tile facing, fluted posts and dentil detailing. Wall speakers take advantage of the surround-sound system.

Oversized cabinets with upper moldings frame the kitchen, which offers a boxed window above its porcelain double sink. Replaced appliances include the five-burner cooktop with a retractable vent, a side-by-side refrigerator, stacked wall ovens and a dishwasher. The breakfast bar creates a semi-circular separation between the kitchen, a hearth area with a double-sided fireplace and the breakfast space, which is set in a bay area with nature views.

There are two pantries. One is a walk-in with wrap-around shelves.

Near the access to the garage is a laundry room, which has been treated to 42-inch cabinets matching those in the kitchen.

The main-floor bedroom suite has its own fireplace in a sitting area. Double doors open to the luxury bath, which provides two separate vanities, an oval whirlpool tub surrounded in ceramic tile under corner windows and a ceramic-tiled shower in a separate room. The walk-in closet offers a dressing area, organizer shelves and a central chest of drawers.

Three more bedrooms are located on the upper level. Two share a hall bath. The third comprises a guest suite with a full bath, two closets, sitting area and a separate room, which could easily be plumbed as a kitchenette or used as a computer niche.

The finished, walk-out lower level has space for game tables, a brick-faced fireplace, a recreation room with a sitting area by the fireplace and a full bath. The media room is equipped with a 110-inch screen and an overhead projector.

Now used for exercise, an
extra room could be finished as a fifth bedroom.

“We fell in love with the setting — the pond, the ducks, the creek — and there are lots of trees,” one owner said.
