A functional floor plan and attentive styling details create a versatile and spacious home at 6355 Karlsridge Drive in Miami Twp.

“From the moment you enter through the gorgeous mahogany door and step into the soaring two-story entry with marble flooring, you realize this is a special home,” said Lisa Goris of Sibcy Cline Realtors.

“There’s a formal side for those who like to entertain, but this is a house you can raise your family in, also,” Goris said.

Built in 1990 in a classic architectural style, this home benefits from many updates completed during the past two years. Bathrooms, light fixtures, appliances and cabinetry hardware were updated.

“They redid the walk-out lower level, opening it up and adding a wet bar. Every carpet you see is just a couple of weeks old,” Goris said.

“They did $15,000 worth of landscaping. They cleared the whole back yard for maximum use and put down mulch. They created a natural retention wall with river rocks,” she said.

Offering about 4,470 square feet of living space, the home is listed for $499,612.

Mounded islands landscaped with trees create privacy for cul-de-sac location. Cut stones edge the flowerbeds along the curved walkway to the covered entrance.

Front doors are embellished with deep panels and leaded-glass inserts. In the open living room, triple windows are topped by a half-moon under a wood-beamed cathedral ceiling.

A boxed window around triple casements adds interest in the formal dining room, which connects to the kitchen through a hall flanked by double pantries.

Hickory cabinets and Corian counters frame the kitchen workspace and incorporate an appliance garage, a lazy Susan, a planning desk and double buffet counters.

A smooth cooktop is installed in the long center island. Earth-toned ceramic backsplashes and tile flooring and a wooded view above the double sink suggest a calming space for the creative family chef. Appliances include stacked ovens, a dishwasher and refrigerator.

The open, airy great room is complemented by a floor-to-ceiling fireplace faced in varying hues of buff brick and flanked by stacked windows. There is direct access to the deck, which is surrounded by a railing and has staircases on each end to reach the greenspaces, woods and creek below.

A hall off the kitchen holds two more pantries and access to the laundry room and the garage.

At the entrance to the main-floor bedroom suite is a double walk-in closet with organizers. Features in the bedroom include the beamed cathedral ceiling, California frisee carpet and an arched window overlooking the woods.

Double doors open to the bath, where the whirlpool tub is set in ceramic tile, and the double vanity has a central makeup station. An oversized shower is in a separate room.

Three bedrooms and a hall bath with tub and shower are located on the upper level. One bedroom has a walk-in closet, which accesses the floored attic storage space.

“You have the front staircase, which is formal (with square posts and spindled railing), but then you have the back staircase from the informal living area,” Goris said.

Another staircase descends to the lower level, which offers two more bedrooms, a full bath and a recreation room with a game table area and a sitting area near the second brick fireplace. There is direct access to the lower-level deck, which is shaded.

Built-in glass cupboards back up the wet bar. An extra room could serve as an office or a hobby room.

“You have a whole other house down here,” Goris said. “There’s a lot of space and a lot of storage space in this home.

“It’s a very private lot. With the fire burning in the fireplace, the (view of) trees in the back, the creek at the edge with a couple of logs crossing it, this home truly has space, charm and grace.”
