An interesting architectural design with a central two-story turret, a cedar-framed arched window and a two-tiered, gabled roof distinguishes the brick home at 540 Brandyleigh Lane in Bethel Twp.

Rows of rounded bushes and greenery accent the walkway to the front door. The parking pad in front of the side-entry garage leads directly to the deck at the back of the home.

“The house has soldiered brick and a dimensional roof,” said Mary Hill of Irongate Inc. Realtors.

An elliptical window sits above the roof over the front entrance, which extends to the wrap-around front porch.

Built in 1995 on a 1-acre lot in the Shawnee Springs subdivision, this home has a Springfield mailing address. It offers about 3,300 square feet of living space, and it is listed for $365,000.

A Williamsburg-styled brass chandelier accents the hardwood flooring and the spindled railing along an open staircase in the two-story entry.

“It would be fun to decorate the staircase and balcony for the holidays,” Hill said.

“The wood in this house is beautiful. Look at the detail on the door frames,” she said.

Solid six-panel doors and high baseboards are seen throughout the home.

Surrounded by a wood mantel, the gas-log fireplace in the great room is topped by a half-moon window under the cathedral ceiling.

Round columns separate the formal dining room, which is set in a five-window bay utilizing the turret space.

Double doors enclose the office, which has a bay window and a wall closet with double doors.

“This could be used as a guest room with the convenience of the full bath right across the hall,” Hill said.

At the end of the hall near the laundry area is access to the two-car, attached garage.

Near the entrance to the kitchen is a wet bar with rounded cabinets and a wine rack.

“There are open soffits and cathedral cabinets in the kitchen, and the island is tiered with a granite top and a lower counter for bar seating,” Hill said.

Cherry cabinets incorporate a pantry with swing-away shelves, and the lower cabinets have rollout shelves. Appliances include a cooktop, double ovens, a side-by-side refrigerator and a dishwasher.

Other notable features in the kitchen are the recessed ceiling lights and hardwood flooring.

Wood-trimmed, sliding-glass doors in the breakfast room open to the raised deck, which overlooks greenspace with a storage shed near the tree line.

Double doors open to the main-floor bedroom suite with two walk-in closets and access to the deck. A deep tray ceiling above the bedroom holds a paddle fan.

Ceramic tile covers the floor in the private bath, where the whirlpool tub is set in patterned ceramic tile under a glass-block window. Matching glass block surrounds the step-in, ceramic-tiled shower. The double vanity offers a Corian counter and a central makeup station.

On the upper level, the open loft ends in the turret space with four windows under a domed ceiling. Two more bedrooms and two baths are placed on this level. One bedroom has a private bath with a shower. The other bedroom has direct access to the hall bath.

The daylight basement on the lower level is finished with neutral carpeting in the recreation and sitting rooms. Above-ground windows are trimmed with wood casings. An atrium door opens to the patio. The full bath has a corner shower.

A hallway leads to the second garage, which is heated and air-conditioned and can hold two cars in tandem. There is a workshop with counters and cabinets in one corner. This home is equipped with a central vacuum system.

“Between the cul-de-sac location and the tree line (at the back), it’s very private,” Hill said.

This location is about 1 mile from Ohio 4 and the George Rogers Clark Historic Park.
