The Bengals have signed tight end Chase Coffman of Missouri, a third-round selection in this year’s draft, the team announced Tuesday, July 28.
Coffman (6-6, 257) is the all-time NCAA receptions leader (247) among tight ends. His senior season total of 90 receptions tied the NCAA season record for a tight end, and he won the John Mackey Award as the nation’s best at his position.
Coffman is the eighth of Cincinnati’s 11 draft picks to sign. The previous six are C Jonathan Luigs of Arkansas (fourth round), P Kevin Huber of the University of Cincinnati (fifth round), CB Morgan Trent of Michigan (sixth round), HB Bernard Scott of Abilene Christian (sixth round), FB Fui Vakapuna of Brigham Young (seventh round), DT Clinton McDonald of Memphis (seventh round) and WR Freddie Brown of Utah (seventh round).
