The Cincinnati Bengals have signed fifth-round draft pick Kevin Huber, the team announced Thursday, July 16.
Huber, a punter out of the University of Cincinnati, is the first punter drafted by the team since 1987.
The Bengals released two punters, Kyle Larson and Ryan Plackemeier, after drafting Huber in the fifth-round of the college draft in April. Larson had been the Bengals' punter the past five seasons.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder led the nation in net punting the last two seasons for the Bearcats. He average 45.5 yards per punt in his career with UC.
Huber is a graduate of McNicholas High School in Cincinnati.
Huber is the sixth of Cincinnati’s 11 draft picks to sign. The previous five are CB Morgan Trent of Michigan (sixth round), HB Bernard Scott of Abilene Christian (sixth round), FB Fui Vakapuna of Brigham Young (seventh round), DT Clinton McDonald of Memphis (seventh round) and WR Freddie Brown of Utah (seventh round).
