By now, we should all be in agreement that Rodney Harrison suffers from “foot-in-mouth” disease.
The retired safety, the only player in NFL history to record 30 sacks and 30 interceptions, has been put out to pasture in the broadcast booth, left to graze with Tony Dungy on NBC Sports’ NFL team.
As a player, Harrison hit hard during his 15-year career with the San Diego Chargers and New England Patriots. As an NFL analyst, he often hits below the belt. And a lot of people, especially Cincinnati Bengals fans, don’t like it.
Harrison was this week’s guest on “2-Deep Zone,” a new show hosted by ex-Bengals Artrell Hawkins and Charles Fisher on WCKY-AM (1530) “Homer, The Sports Animal.” And Harrison ripped the Bengals, calling them a series of “clown shows.”
That may have been true when the team endured 15 arrests from December 2005 to June 2007. But that’s not the case today.
The “clown show” will be 2-1 after the Bengals beat Pittsburgh on Sunday, Sept. 27, en route to a 10-6 finish with a playoff berth at the end of the regular-season rainbow.
The Bengals are more of a freak show starring right end Antwan Odom, who was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his five-sack performance at Green Bay.
Sunday’s matchup to watch is Odom vs. Steelers left offensive tackle Max Starks, who is the biological son of former Bengals defensive end Ross Browner.
