Browns pick George McDonald to be WR coach

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns promoted George McDonald to wide receivers coach on Wednesday.

McDonald joined Eric Mangini's staff on Feb. 11 as offensive quality control coach. He spent the two previous seasons as receivers coach at the University of Minnesota. McDonald has also worked at Western Michigan, Stanford, Northern Illinois and Ball State.

A four-year letter winner at Illinois from 1995-98, McDonald finished his college career with 59 receptions and 589 yards.
