• The GWOC Central gets a little tougher with the addition of Northmont. Fairmont and Beavercreek shared the Central title in 2008 and are expected to contend again along with Centerville. Northmont won the North title. Sidney and Piqua are favorites in the GWOC North.

Beavercreek's Ashley Skinner, the Central Division player of the year in 2008, will miss this season with a shoulder injury. The catcher hit .387 with 20 RBI for the Beavers last season.

Tippecanoe and Kenton Ridge are expected to battle again for the Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Division title. Tipp edged KR for the league title by a game, but KR ended Tipp's season in the Division II regional semifinals. The Red Devils — led by pitcher Kacey Locker, catcher Courtney Tackett and outfielder Jenny Bashore — upped their conditioning this offseason.

• Junior pitcher Rachel Drinnon and junior catcher Brittany Hunley look to help Brookville win a fourth straight Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern Division title.

Greenville, still playing as an independent, received a boost with the addition of power pitcher Jordyn Fisherback. The junior was the Cross County Conference player of the year for Tri-Village in 2008.
