Centerville hurler baffles Hamilton
Centerville used a strong start by junior pitcher Matt Sullivan to defeat host Hamilton 7-3 in a high school baseball game on Saturday, April 24.
Sullivan struck out eight to improve to 3-0. Senior Doug Obringer had a home run and accounted for two RBIs, and junior John Griffith had a double and three RBIs for the Elks.
Centerville improved to 11-9.
Carroll 15, Stebbins 10: The Patriots outslugged the host Indians in the championship game of the Jim Murray Slugfest Tournament at Stebbins. Josh Weissman had a double and two RBIs for Carroll. Senior Jarod Brinegar went yard for the Indians. Carroll improved to 13-6; Stebbins fell to 2-15.
Carlisle 10, Oakwood 2: Sophomore pitcher Alex Leach (2-1) did it all, striking out six and going 3-for-4 with five RBIs in the first game of a doubleheader for the host Indians.
Carlisle 11, Alter 1: Junior right fielder Nick McGill had a home run, two doubles and two RBIs for the host Indians. Carlisle improved to 16-4.
Softball
Tippecanoe 1, Col. Central Crossing 0: Junior pitcher Kacey Locker (14-0) struck out 14 and allowed just two walks for her third no-hitter in Game 1 of a doubleheader. Sophomore Alex Dawes singled up the middle to bring home Jenny Bashore in the top of the fourth inning for the only run. The Red Devils lost to Col. Bishop Hartley 5-4 in the second game. Tippecanoe is 15-2.
Greenville 14, Hamilton 1: Junior third baseman Nicole Davis had a home run and five RBIs for the visiting Green Wave in the second game of a doubleheader. Pitcher Jordyn Fisherback (20-2) picked up the win. Greenville fell to North Canton Hoover 4-1 in the first game. Greenville moved to 21-2.
Boys volleyball
Lakewood St. Edward beat St. Xavier in the championship game of the Centerville Elite Tournament. Centerville defeated Hilliard Davidson to finish seventh.
